ESL Lead Teacher Meeting

Free

with Marcy Reed

Calendar Oct 29, 2020 at 1 pm

This session is for ESL Lead Teachers at Adult Education Programs.  Marcy Reed and members of the ESL Advisory Group will update the field on important issues.

We will be discussing issues particular to the ESL students we support, and will be setting up monthly meetings going forward to check in and discuss successes and what issues additional support is needed. At this meeting, Jen FitzGerald, a teacher with New Haven Adult Ed and the program manager of the IRIS Family Literacy Program will share effective strategies for teaching using Zoom and for adapting familiar activities to the online space.  Participants will come away with concrete examples of what teachers can do online to engage learners, including students with low literacy levels and few digital skills. There will be opportunities for sharing and questions.

Directors, I am including you as a reminder to encourage your ESL Lead Teachers or ESL/TESOL coordinators to attend. If you do not have a designated ESL Lead Teacher, please consider ‘sending’ an ESL/TESOL teacher who would be willing to share with others in your program.
